Iowa State Cyclones
OVER 8 Wins?? -125
Now, the Cyclones are coming 14 novices and are led by one of the hottest head coaching commodities in college football and thats Matt Campbell. Campbell was sought after by teams at the NFL but seems like he is building something in Ames, Iowa.
Iowa State is one of just two teams in the Big 12 (another being the Oklahoma Sooners) to win at least eight games in each of the last two seasons. This group contains five offensive players who are preseason All-Americans plus also a quarterback in Brock Purdy who led The Big 12 in passing performance last campaign.
You heard that correctly, Brock Purdy needed a better efficacy than Heisman winner Kyler Murray of Oklahoma along with Heisman hopeful Sammy Ehlinger of Texas. Purdy turned this team around in the second half of the season since he added 14 additional points a game when he was named the starter.
NFL-bound David Montgomery will be missed by that the Cyclones however have the emptiness to fill although From the.
The Cyclone defense will probably be strong and directed the Big 12. They allowed just 3.3 yards per carry, a marker which was ninth-best in the country. Since the conference was founded in 1996, Iowa State hadnt ever ended first in scoring defense until they eventually did it in 18 into their spectacular turnaround period.
Plenty of solid players return like standout safety Greg Einsworth (led team with 87 tackles), defensive end DaQuan Bailey (8 sacks, 14.5 tackles for a loss), and linebackers Marcel Spears and Mike Rose.
Campbells team finished the year and has high expectations. Now becoming to wins is not only something I feel that they will perform but there is a conference championship game in their reach.
In their non-conference program they have only twocake matches, versus Northern Iowa and Louisiana-Monroe, but flanked involving those games they have their in-state competitions, the Hawkeyes of Iowa. Its time for the Cyclones to create an early-season announcement along with a triumph on the Hawkeyes (Iowa has won four straight in this series) can do that.
Their road conference competitions are Baylor, West Virginia, Texas Tech (in AT&T Stadium) and Kansas State, all groups that the Cyclones defeat a year past. They do perform one street game and that is vs Oklahoma. Before you count that as a loss, dont forget in Norman that the Cyclones shocked the Sooners and Heisman winner Baker Mayfield 38-31.
The week after that game the Longhorns venture to Jack Trice Stadium from the game which will determine who gets a possible tiebreaker to meet the requirements for the Big 12 championship game. Though Texas has a solid head coach in Tom Herman along with a powerful crime, the Longhorns will not have the ability to keep up with this Cyclones by games ending and yield three starters.
Things are changing at the Big 12 and the Iowa State Cyclones are the No. 1??shift that will take the convention by storm.
